On July 25th, our much anticipated litter by Jasper out of Mackenzie were born. One blue girl, two tri girls and one blue boy. It started out so well, but soon the puppies started to fade away and within five days, we had lost them all to a viral infection, despite the tireless effort by our wonderful friend and breeder extraordinaire Lill Ydse, kennel Perfect Image, who so kindly whelped the litter for us when we were away on our honeymoon.
All involved were devestated. The puppies showed a lot of promise. We were in particular very sad to lose the blue girl, who we had great hopes for. She was going to be named Kensington Gate Honeymoon.
This is of course the downside of being a breeder, but also one of the things one will have to endure as part of the game. It is not for the faint of heart. We will repeat the breeding in the spring and hope for a happier ending to the story.
