Majahuset is assumed built around 1800. It's a solid timber construction with wood panelling and one of the oldest buildings in the area. It's not big and the planes are crooked, but it is full of history and rural charm.
I bought this house in 2008 and have spent a lot of time stripping back layers of modernization to allow the original features to shine once again. It is still a work in progress.
There is a nice size garden with two different types of apple trees, as well as red currants.
The area in which we live is a popular farming area, and Majahuset sits next to rolling fields which are great for exercising the dogs in the late fall and winter months. There are also woods in the surrounding area, and we enjoy taking our morning walks in them. The seasons offer different treats, such as blueberries, cowberries and chantarelles.

My name is Linda Yuen, born in 1980. All my life I have had a particular interest for animals - dogs, horses and cats in particular. I had a lot of relatives who were farmers and my most dear childhood memories are from the country and I have always wanted to live a rural life, despite growing up and spending my youth in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
Other interests include photography and music. I have a bachelor degree in Commercial Music from the University of the West of Scotland (then University of Paisley) and have worked in the British music industry for a few years before moving back to Norway where I have settled for a quieter lifestyle.
I enjoy taking pictures of people and animals, sometimes I take on professional jobs such as weddings, for instance. For those who are interested, I use a Nikon D90 with a Sigma 30mm F1.4 for the most part.
The picture to the right was done as a response to a challenge to produce an old fashioned portrait.

This is Mattis, on paper Skog Habben (e. Heirums Blåtind u. Brumolilja). A dølehest stallion born in 2009, this breed was originally bred for forestry work, but is even a great allround hobby horse under saddle and harness. Mattis has an unusual colour for the breed and with his two blue eyes with black rims, he is truly unique. Typical of his breed, he has a steady temperament and he is also very outgoing, friendly and curious. He is a fun horse to be around.
Xiao Miao, which means little cat in Chinese, is a house cat that I got for company for Mikkel and I. He has the biggest personality of any pet I have owned and he is also a skilled mouse catcher and there have been no more mice in the house since we moved in. He enjoys nothing more than draping himself over my shoulders when I am walking the dogs in the fields and he will jump straight up from the ground if I don't give him a lift.
Moshi Moshi is Mackenzie's best friend. He appears to be an Abyssinian mix as he is tiny and very slender with a silky smooth coat. His colour is very unusual - it started out as black smoke tabby (completely white undercoat) and now he is more a chocolate colour. Being the youngest member of the household, he is always up to mischief.
I also keep some free range chickens. I breed for egg colour, using breeds like maran and Swedish Isbar to get a wide range of colours. The eggs are very tasty and it certainly adds to the country feeling to have chickens walking around.
